This New Gerber Image Model Is A Major Win For Humanity

Baby food brand Gerber just announced the winner of their eighth annual Gerber Baby Photo contest: Lucas Warren from Dalton, Georgia!
Lucas is a bright-eyed, smiling little boy with an extra special thing about him: he’s the first baby with Down’s Syndrome to be featured by the company.
“Lucas’ winning smile and joyful expression won our hearts this year, and we are all thrilled to name him our 2018 Spokesbaby,” Bill Partyka, president and CEO of Gerber, said in a press release.

“Every year, we choose the baby who best exemplifies Gerber’s longstanding heritage of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby, and this year, Lucas is the perfect fit.”

According to this report, Lucas was chosen out of a pool of more than 140, 000 entries. His family will receive $50,000, and he will appear in promotional posts across Gerber’s social media throughout the year.

“This is such a proud moment for us as parents knowing that Lucas has a platform to spread joy, not only to those he interacts with every day, but to people all over the country,” his mom, Cortney Warren, said in the press release.

It is a huge win for the special needs community that they have representation with a major brand of baby food. It lets people see that people born with conditions like Down ’s syndrome can still live full lives, and become a model at that!

“We hope this opportunity sheds light on the special needs community and educates people that with acceptance and support, individuals with special needs have the potential to change the world ― just like our Lucas!” she added.

Ann Turner Cook, the original Gerber baby, whose blond and bright-eyed face done in black and white sketch on their iconic bottled baby food, is now a novelist and just recently turned 91. Wow!

Gerber launched the Photo Search back in 2010, and while only one baby gets to be featured on their products for the year, Gerber takes the photo search as an opportunity to celebrate each and every adorable baby.
